Of 182 Royal Street, East Perth

He enlisted on the 17th August, 1914, and embarked for Egypt on the 26th October, 1914. He took part in the landing at Gallipoli, and was wounded in the back and spine in October, 1915, and was sent back to Egypt. He was transferred to the Camel Corps, and patrolled the South African border, rejoining his Battalion in England in May, 1916. He crossed to France in August, 1916, and was wounded slightly in the foot at Pozieres. He was transferred to the 8th Battery, 3rd Field Artillery, and then joined the 11th Battalion. He was wounded at Ypres in December, 1917, ant was sent to hospital in England. He arrived back in Australia on the 12th May, 1919.

'While in the Fleurbaix sector this officer rendered excellent service, especially during the enemy bombardment on 5th May, and the Battalion raid on the enemy trenches 12-13 June.  On both occasions at Pozieres this Officer did magnificent work.  He has been with the Battalion since October 1915, and served on the Gallipoli Peninsula previously in 9 Field Ambulance.  He had charge of a forward Aid Post during the heavy fighting at Lone Pine.  He has at all times shown great personal bravery and self sarifice and Devotion to Duty.
