Of Blakiston via Littlehampton, Sth Australia.
Richard was working as a labourer when he enlisted at Adelaide on 7 September 1916.
Richard embarked from Adelaide on board HMAT Afric on 6 November 1916 with the 17th Reinforcements and served on the Western Front where he was wounded in action - Gassed- on 1 June 1918. 
He was repatriated to England and after hospitalisation and recovery he was returned to his unit and then transferred to the 2nd Machine Gun Battalion on 6 October 1918. 
He was returned to Australia aboard HMAT Chemnitz arriving at Adelaide on the 2nd of February and was discharged on 11 October 1919. 
He is the brother of 3477, Private Thomas O’Donnell 3rd Machine Gun Company.

Son of Thomas O'DONNELL and Clara nee DUNBAR
Of Blakiston, via Littlehampton, Sth Australia.
Thomas was working as a chauffeur when he enlisted at Adelaide on 24 October 1916. 
He embarked from Adelaide on board HMAT Seeang Bee on 10th February 1917 with the 9th Reinforcements and served on the Western Front where he was transferred to the 23rd Machine Gun Company on 23 November 1917. 
He was wounded in action receiving shrapnel wounds to the hands, shoulders and legs.  Thomas was invalided to England on 19 December 1917and after recovery was returned to his unit and then transferred to the 3rd Machine Gun Company.   
Thomas was returned to Australia aboard HMAT Konigin Louise arriving 2 February 1920 and was discharged on 19 April 1920. 
He is the brother of 6131, Private R. O’Donnell, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion.
