Lance Corporal 43rd Battalion Born 24 August 1894 near Harrogate, SA Son of George TEAKLE and Auguste nee LANGBEIN Of ‘Rosehill’ via Woodside, Sth Australia. Alex was working as a labourer when he enlisted at Adelaide on 5 January 1916. Alex embarked from Adelaide on board HMAT Afric on 9 June 1916 with ‘B’ Company and served on the Western Front where he was wounded with a gunshot wound to the back on 4 October 1917. He re-joined his unit from hospital on 8 January and was again wounded - this time gassed – on 26 May 1918. He was Invalided to England for hospitalisation and treatment and subsequently repatriated to Australia on board HMAT Nestor arriving on 29 June 1919 and was discharged on 24 August 1919. He embarked from Adelaide on board HMAT Mongolia on 9 March 1916 with the 10th Reinforcements. John served on the Western front and was twice hospitalised with severe tonsillitis. In October 1913 he was transferred to Broken Hill, NSW. Richard enlisted on 20 January 1916, and left Australia the following August. He attained the rank of sergeant in the 9th Light Horse Regiment.
