Lance Corporal 3rd Divisional Signal Company Born 07 August 1891 at Norwood, SA Son of Talbert Goss PITMAN & Eliza Emma nee LAWRENCEOccupation prior to enlistment – Electrical Engineer Enlisted on December 12, 1915 at Goulburn, N.S.W. Served in France and Belgium and was killed in action at Zonnebeke, Belgium on October 5, 1917 aged 26. He is buried at Passchendaele New British Cemetery, Belgium – Plot XII, Row C, Grave II. He was awarded the Military Cross on August 28, 1917 “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As battalion Signalling Officer he displayed the utmost courage and perseverance in maintaining communication under circumstances of the greatest difficulty, although his lines were constantly severed and his station destroyed by shell fire.
