British Army Born 17 May 1870 at Fremantle, WA Son of James MOORE Educated Prince Alfred College In May 1915 Moore took command, as lieutenant-colonel, of the depot for Australian and New Zealand troops at Weymouth, Dorset; in December he was promoted temporary brigadier general commanding the relatively few Australian Imperial Force troops then in Britain. From July 1916 he took charge of A.I.F. camps and depots, which involved supervision of the training of reinforcements. Charles Bean noted his success: 'under a bluff exterior he had, though slow of speech and heavy of movement, a wide experience of men and the ability to handle them … with the politician's sense of what men were feeling, a kindly humour, marked determination, and loyal … nature'. Lance-Corporal HAROLD CLIFFORD MORGAN was killed in France on July 4. He was the third son of the late Mr. William Morgan, who was for many years connected with the commercial department of "The Advertiser." His mother resides at Forest avenue, Black Forest. He was 3O years of age, and embarked for active service on February 7, 1916. His two brothers also enlisted. Lance-Corporal Vernon Morgan, who embarked in 1915 and served in Gallipoli and France, was killed at Pozieres on August 4, 1916. The eldest brother, Private Leonard Morgan, who is recovering from his second wound, has been nearly three years' fighting. The family were for a long period residents of Unley, where the three boys were choristers and members of St. Augustine's Church.

He was taken ill with enteric fever, and sent to hospital in England. He spent some months at Salisbury Plains, and went to France about the beginning of January last. He met his two brothers in France. Corporal Morgan was 31 years of age. He spent most of his boyhood at Parkside, where he was educated at the public school. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A E Morgan of Glen Osmond Road, Frewville. He left a widow and four young children, who reside at Church Street, Prospect.
