'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty during period from August 1918 to October 1918 - During the attack near Hamel, this Officer commanded one of the assaulting Companies of his Battalion.  By prompt decision and keen appreciation of the situation, when part of his Company was held up, he personally led his reserve Platoon to a Flank position form which it was able to advance on to, and mop up, the opposition.  
During the last two years, Captain Cope has acted as a Company Commander with consistent ability and success.  He has taken part in the battles of Messines, Warneton and the Operations of the Somme.'

He enlisted in March, 1915, and embarked for Egypt in June. He was in hospital for some time suffering from fever. He then crossed to France, where he took part in various engagements until he was eventually killed at Pozieres between the 4th and 6th August, 1916.  He was a twin brother of Frank Coulter, who was also on active service

Son of Reuben COULTER & Keturah nee PEARCE of 13 Charles St. Kalgoorlie, WA.
He enlisted on the 18th M'Iay. 1915, and embarked on the 19th June, 1915, for Egypt. He was not wounded at Gallipoli, but developed a poisoned foot, and after being in hospital for a short time was sent to England. He crossed to France, and was in several severe battles on the Somme front, He was killed at Bullecourt on the 11th April, 1917.
