Mrs. Brailey of Princes road, Mitcham, has been officially notified that her brother, Sgt. H A Cheney has been killed in action in France.
Sgt. Cheney left South Australia with the original 10th Battalion, and took part in the memorable landing on Gallipoli, with his brother, Lieut. E.L.
Cheney MC who is at present serving in the same Battalion (50th) in France. He left Egypt for the western front in June 1916, and while serving in the
trenches ad the muscles of one of his ankles badly sprained. He was invalided to England, and after his recovery went through the Chelsea School of
Instruction, gaining 135 points out of a possible 150. He returned to France, and was killed in action on April 2, at the age of 26 years. The
deceased was a prominent member of the Church of England Men's Society, and an energetic worker in connection with St. Michael's Church Mitcham, and St. Luke's, Adelaide. He was of a bright and genial disposition, and although he had been only five years in the Commonwealth, had made hosts of friends.
He was connected with the Druid's Lodge, and has left three sisters - Mrs. J. Brailey, Miss Cheney, and Miss M Cheney, all of Mitcham.

On the night of 15th September 1918, when the Battery was subjected to considerable enemy fire an ammunition dump was set alight. Acting with promptness and energy Sgt. CHINNERY, though suffering from painful burns from a bursting shell, completed alone the task of extinguishing the flames.'

News has been received by Mr. and Mrs .Joseph Choat, of Francis street, Clarence Park, that their third son, Private Archibald Percy Choat, has been killed in action in France. He was 19 years of age. He went into camp in July 1915, and left fo rthe front in November last. He received his education at the Goodwood public school. A t the time of his enlistment he was farming near Clare. Private Choat was of a bright, lovable disposition, and enjoyed the esteem of a wide circle of friends. The second son of Mr. and Mrs. Choat, Private Wesley P. Choat, has been reported missing since July 20. Their eldest son is also at the front. Mr. and Mrs. Choat also have a number of nephews and cousins on active service.
