Pte. Edward Bertram Andrews, who was killed in France on August 26, while on patrol duty, was a son of the late Mr. E.J. Andrews and Mrs. Andrews, of Melrose, and a grandson of the late Mr. T.B. Marshall, of that town. A bright and unselfish disposition, combined with many fine characteristics, made him extremely popular among a large circle of friends. He was a prominent and active member of Holy Trinity Church, Melrose, in which connection he was a warden, a lay reader, a member of the choir, and a Sunday school teacher. He was also actively associated with the local football, cricket and tennis clubs.
